IDN domains are domain names containing symbols of national alphabets. The IDN system allows you to use characters from other languages, not limited to Latin characters only.
IDN works using the Punycode encoding system, since the DNS system only accepts Latin letters. For example, you have registered a domain первыйдомен.net. The traditional Latin name corresponds to this domain xn--b1aebcstifel6j.net, which is obtained by encoding Punycode. All IDN domains correspond to domains with the xn-- prefix. In the domain IDN name, you can use only those characters that belong to the alphabet of the selected language.
When you specify the IDN domain in the address bar, the browser converts it to Punycode and the site opens. Today, this transformation is carried out by almost all browsers of the latest versions, independently or with the installation of additional plug-ins.
Many domain zones support IDN domains. The most popular: .net, .com, .cc, .tv, .name, .tel, .москва, .рф, .сайт, .онлайн, .su, etc.
In the domains .net, .com, .cc, .tv, .name, .tel, it is possible to register IDN domains in languages that use the following alphabets: Latin, Cyrillic, Danish, Finnish, German, Swedish, Hungarian, Icelandic, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Spanish, Korean, Japanese and Chinese characters.

- simultaneous use of characters from different alphabets in the domain representation;
- using characters of invalid alphabets in the domain representation;
- using alphabetic characters that are not part of the alphabet of the language specified during domain registration;
- in domains .tel, .org register domain names that are identical to already registered domain names in another language. For example: if a domain is registered pear.org (Latin characters), then domain registration реаг.org (Cyrillic characters) will be unavailable.
