What are Whois contacts and why are they needed?
Creating a Whois contact for international and foreign domains
Changing the Whois contact for international and foreign domains
Whois contact — contact information about the administrator of an international or foreign domain (.net, .com, .tel, .tv, .cc, etc.), which will be available for viewing in the public Whois service. This is a requirement of the international organization ICANN, which coordinates the Internet domain name system. ICANN blocks domains with invalid or incomplete contact information.
Whois contacts are used in the process of domain transfer between registrars. The new registrar sends notifications to the address of the administrative contact person specified in the Whois service (Admin Email), if available.
Rucenter sends notifications about renewal, payment and support of domains to the contact addresses specified in the contract questionnaire, and not in the Whois contacts.
A Whois contact can be created during the process of placing an order for registration of an international or foreign domain or before domain registration (in the personal account section Account → Whois-contacts).
When creating a Whois contact, the domain administrator (type — registrant) and administrative and technical contact persons (type — contact) are specified. According to the agreement, it can be registered:
The contact person for administrative or technical issues (contact type) can be not only the domain administrator, but also a person other than the domain administrator.
