Domain transfer to RU-CENTER from another registrar

For .РФ, .RU (a paid service):

  1. get a transfer code from the current registrar;
  2. submit a request for registrar change in the «Manage your account» section → Domain transfer;
  3. confirm the transfer.

The e-mail of the domain administrator specified for the domain of the current registrar will be sent an email with a link to confirm the transfer.

Registrar change procedure cannot be performed in any of the following cases:

  • less then 3 days before the end of the registration period;
  • identification procedure is not passed;
  • judicial or pre-trial restraints are established regarding the domain name;
  • the domain administrator did not provide additional information at the request of RU-CENTER in the specified time;
  • less than 30 days passed since the last ownership change;
  • less than 30 days passed since the last registrar change.

For .MOSCOW, gTLDs, ccTLDs, .COM.RU, .RU.NET, .MSK.RU, .SPB.RU, and other geodomains (a paid service):

  1. Please make sure that the information about the Registrant in RU-CENTER matches the current registrar’s information about the Registrant. In case of any discrepancies, you need to modify the current registrar’s information about the Registrant prior to submitting your order for RU-CENTER’s sponsorship of the domain. We suggest that you verify in advance with the current registrar if there are any restrictions on registrar change in connection with the abovementioned changes.
  2. Using Whois service, check domain status. If domain has a clientTransferProhibited status, it will be required to contact the current registrant to unlock registrar change.
  3. get a transfer code from the current registrar;
  4. submit a request for registrar change in the «Manage your account» section → Domain transfer;
  5. confirm the transfer.

An e-mail to the administrative contact (registered contact) for the domain of the current Registrar will be sent with a link to confirm the transfer of the domain. It is necessary to click on the link and enter the registry authorization code (secret key) within 5 days of receipt of the message.

If an international, foreign, or New gTLD domain name is suspended due to expiration of registration period and then renewed, it is recommended to initiate the registrar change no later than 45 days after the renewal. Otherwise, the one year added to the registration period at the time of renewal by the former registrar may be canceled by the Registry, and then after the registrar change procedure the total domain registration period will be increased by one year only, not by two.

Registrar change procedure cannot be performed in any of the following cases:

  • less than 60 days passed since the moment of domain registration;
  • less than 60 days passed since the last registrar change;
  • the domain is locked by the registry or current registrar.

For .SU, .NET.RU, .ORG.RU, and .PP.RU domains:

  1. notify the current registrar of domain name transfer to RU-CENTER (the form of notification is established by the Registrar);

    The current Registrar should specify JSC RU-CENTER as the new Registrar.

    • for .SU domains - identifier RUCENTER-SU
    • for .NET.RU, .ORG.RU, or .PP.RU domains - identifier RU-CENTER-3LVL
  2. submit a request for registrar change in the «Manage your account» section → Domain transfer.
