Mail Redirection Setting

The service will be functional, provided your domain has been delegated. The domain is delegated on DNS servers communicating Internet users the information about your domain (zone). Two or more such servers will be required.

Domain Setting

The Mail Redirection service already includes DNS support. If the service is ordered under the same contract as the domain, no extra settings need to be made.

If the domain is not registered in Rucenter or the service is not ordered under the same contract as the domain, you should independently indicate DNS services subject to a domain level:

  • for the second level domain (for example, web-forward.ru):

    ns3-fwl2.nic.ru
    ns4-fwl2.nic.ru
    ns8-fwl2.nic.ru

  • for the third level domain (for example, test.web-forward.ru):

    ns3-fwl3.nic.ru
    ns4-fwl3.nic.ru
    ns8-fwl3.nic.ru

  • for the forth level domain (for example, forum.eng.web-forward.ru):

    ns3-fwl4.nic.ru
    ns4-fwl4.nic.ru
    ns8-fwl4.nic.ru

  • for the fifth level domain (for example, www.forum.eng.web-forward.ru):

    ns3-fwl5.nic.ru
    ns4-fwl5.nic.ru
    ns8-fwl5.nic.ru

Zone File Entries

When ordering the service the appropriate records will be automatically made to DNS servers engaged in service delivery.
If required, you may use DNS server of your provider. Therefore, you will be required to make the following entries into zone file on the primary DNS server:

domain_name. MX 10 mf1.nic.ru.

where:

domain_name — domain or host name for which the service has been ordered (to be specified with dot);
10 — priority of MX-record, which value should be set in compliance with the existing records;
mf1.nic.ru. —mail server name (to be specified with dot).

Mail Redirection Setting

New mail redirection rules may be reconfigured and set in 'Manage your account → Review and update data'.

You may set one of the following general redirection rules:

  • all email messages sent to your domain except for the addresses, for which individual rules are set, shall be redirected to another domain with the user's name unchanged;

  • all email messages sent to your address, except for the ones, for which individual rules are set, shall be redirected to a single email address;

  • delete all email messages sent to the addresses omitted in individual rules.
    In this case the sender will receive message "User unknown".

Individual Redirection Rules

You may specify individual redirection rules for the email addresses in your domain in the "Manage your account" section. A single individual rule may be set for each address. From 40 to 200 rules may be specified subject to the length of the domain name and users' names.

Field To: of the letter head in case of redirection remains unchanged, i.e. the same address to which the letter was initially sent.

If a user indicates in his/her letter two or more email-addresses in the domain for which the service has been ordered, and each one is subject to redirection to one and the same address, the letter is to be delivered in a single copy.
