Domain renewal

Domains are registered for a specific period. To ensure that a website remains operational, the domain must be renewed before its registration expiration date.

Early Domain Renewal

A domain can be renewed in advance, but not earlier than two months before its expiration date.  Renewal notifications are sent regularly until the domain is renewed or deleted due to non-payment.  It is important to keep the contact email address up to date in your Personal Account under Account → Agreement → Contacts to avoid missing renewal notifications.

Automatic domain name renewal

By default, automatic renewal is enabled for all domains1 unless you have opted out of renewal. Funds for domain renewal are reserved (allocated) in the personal account eight days before the domain's expiration date.  One day before the expiration date, the funds are debited, and the domain registration period is renewed.

Early Domain Renewal

A domain can be renewed in advance, but not earlier than two months before its expiration date. To renew a domain early:

  1. Log in to your Profile using your agreement number and password.
  2. In the menu, select Actions → Service Renewal.
  3. Check the box next to the domain you want to renew and click Renew. The domain will be renewed within a few minutes if sufficient funds are available in your account. Payment methods.

Bulk Domain Renewal

To renew multiple domains at once, you can use the bulk renewal feature:

  1. Log in to your Profile using your agreement number and password.
  2. In the menu, select Actions → Service Renewal.
  3. Check the boxes next to all domains you want to renew.
  4. In the Actions with selected services dropdown menu at the bottom of the page, select Renew selected services and click Apply. The domains will be renewed within a few minutes if sufficient funds are available in your account. Payment methods.

Opting Out of Domain Renewal

If you opt out of domain renewal, funds will not be debited from your personal account balance, and the domain will not be renewed. Opting out is only possible before the renewal takes place — meaning if the domain registration period has not yet been extended. To opt out of renewal:

  1. Log in to your Profile using your agreement number and password.
  2. In the menu, select Actions → Service Renewal.
  3. Check the box next to the domain you do not plan to renew.  In the Actions with selected services dropdown menu at the bottom of the page, select Disable auto-renewal for selected services and click Apply.  After 30 days, the domain will be deleted and may be registered by any user.

You can resume renewal for a domain after opting out by going to Actions → Service Renewal. Check the box next to the domain that needs renewal, select Enable auto-renewal for selected services in the Operations with selected services dropdown menu, and click Apply. The domain will be automatically renewed as long as it is not in the deletion phase in the registry.

Renewing Worldwide Domains

Global domain registries (.tk, .tv, .us, .bz, .eu, .cc, etc.) set their own renewal rules. The main feature of worldwide domain renewal is that they must be renewed in advance — some need to be renewed several weeks before their expiration date. Information on renewal deadlines for global domains is published in. Addendum 2 to the Domain Names Registration Schedule in Worldwide Domains.

We send a renewal notification for a global domain to the contact email address specified in the agreement profile.  This notification includes the deadline for funding your account to renew the domain. If renewal is not paid for by this date, the domain may be deleted from your Personal Account and become unavailable for renewal.

For any questions regarding worldwide domain renewal, please contact us at mir@nic.ru.

1 This condition applies only to agreements directly serviced by Rucenter. For agreements under management, automatic renewal must be enabled in the Profile of the managing agreement.
