Transfer of .ru, .su, .рф domains to Rucenter

The service for transferring .ru and .рф domains to Rucenter is a paid service. To transfer a domain:

  1. Get an AuthInfo code from the current registrar.
  2. Send a request to change the registrar from the Domain Transfer section in your profile.

In the request, you must select one of the methods for the registrant to confirm the transfer of domain sponsorship:

  • In writing,
  • By e-mail,
  • By phone.
  1. If you select the written confirmation method, Rucenter will send a list of documents to the registrant’s contact e-mail address that must be sent to Rucenter. Within 5 calendar days, they must be submitted to the Rucenter office or sent by post. You can send a copy of the request by email (ru-ncc@nic.ru) and its original - by post.
  1. If the confirmation method by e-mail is selected, the registrant is sent a letter with a link to the confirmation page. The registrant must confirm the domain transfer within 5 calendar days.
  1. If the confirmation method for changing the registrar by SMS is selected, the registrant is sent a letter with a link to the confirmation page and an SMS with a key that must be entered on that page within 5 calendar days.

If the registry does not contain an e-mail or phone number specified by the current registrar as intended for the registrar change procedure, the domain transfer procedure is suspended. The registrant must contact the donor registrar to specify in the registry an e-mail or phone number intended for the registrar change procedure.

After the registrant confirms his application for domain acceptance, Rucenter automatically initiates the domain transfer to the RU-CENTER-RU /RUCENTER-RF registrar in the Registry. The donor registrar has the right to approve or refuse the domain transfer within 5 calendar days. In case of approval or inaction of the donor registrar, the domain transfer is carried out to the Rucenter registrar (maximum - after 5 calendar days), about which the registrant is sent a respective notification.

Registrar change procedure for .ru, .su and .рф domains is not carried out in the following cases:
  • domain name registration expires in less than seven days;
  • identification process has failed;
  • judicial or prejudicial restraints have been imposed on the domain name;
  • the registrant has failed to provide additional data within the specified timeframe at Rucenter's request;
  • less than 30 days have passed after the registrant change;
  • less than 30 days have passed after the registrar change.

Transfer of domains .net.ru, .org.ru, .pp.ru to Rucenter

Transfer of .net.ru, .org.ru, .pp.ru domains is free of charge. To transfer a domain:

  1. Notify the current registrar about the transfer of domains to Rucenter. The current Registrar must specify the name of the new Registrar — JSC “RU-CENTER” and its identifier: RU-CENTER-3LVL
  2. Submit a request to change the registrar in your profile→ Actions → Domain transfer.
  3. After the domain is accepted into the Rucenter database, a notification will be sent to the contact e-mail.

Transfer of gTLDs, foreign ccTLDs, New gTLD domains, .com.ru, .ru.net and geodomains to Rucenter

The service for transferring .moscow, gTLDs, foreign ccTLDs, com.ru, .ru.net, .msk.ru, .spb.ru and geodomains to Rucenter is a paid service - when transferring, the domain registration period is renewed by 1 year. Payment methods

To transfer a domain:

  1. Check the domain status using the Whois service. If domain has a clientTransferProhibited status, it will be required to contact the current registrar to unlock registrar change.
  2. Obtain a registry authorization code (secret key) from your current registrar.
  3. Top up your agreement account if there are not enough funds in the account to transfer the domain.
  4. Submit a request to change the registrar in your profile → Actions → Domain transfer.
  5. Confirm the transfer. An email with a link to confirm the domain transfer will be sent to the email address of the Administrative contact specified for the domain of the current Registrar. You must follow the link and enter the registry authorization code (secret key) within 5 days of receiving the email.
Please note:
If the delegation of a gTLD, foreign ccTLD, or New gTLD was terminated due to the expiration of the registration term, and then the registration term was renewed, it is recommended to initiate a registrar change no later than 45 days after the renewal. Otherwise, the year added to the registration term during the renewal by the previous registrar may be cancelled by the Registry, and after the registrar change procedure, the total domain registration term will be increased by only one year, not two.

Registrar change procedure for gTLDs and ccTLDs is not carried out in the following cases:
  • 60 days have not passed from the date of registration or change of the Registrar;
  • 60 days have not passed since the last registrar change;
  • 60 days have not passed since the transfer of domain ownership or change of e-mail address of the registrant;
  • the domain is locked by the registry or current registrar.

Transfer of world domains to Rucenter

To transfer worldwide domains (.tk, .us, .eu, etc.), send a letter to mir@nic.ru to clarify information on the procedure for transferring a domain.  Please specify the domain name in the letter.
