How do I point a domain name to a VDS?

1. Find Out the Server IP Address

When you order a VDS service, the server is assigned a unique IP address. The IP address is sent to your contact email after the service is activated.

You can also find the IP address:

  • For KVM — in the VDS control panel, Settings (Настройки) section

  • For Hyper-V — in the VDS control panel, Network section

2. Add the IP Address to the Domain DNS Zone

To point a domain name to your VDS, you need to add an A record (IP address) to the domain’s DNS zone. Records such as A, MX, CNAME, TXT are created on the primary DNS server to which your domain is delegated.

To add an A record, you can use:

  • a third-party DNS editor;
  • Rucenter DNS servers by ordering the DNS Hosting service.
